The Gemara challenges one proof after another for the principle that a positive commandment overrides a negative commandment, even in the case of negative commandment bearing a kares penalty (death at the hands of the Heavenly court), unless the Torah specifies that it doesn’t. Along the way, we learn how to revere one’s parents, Shabbos, and the Holy Temple, as well as what to do with a law givenin the Torah as a general principle, and which also includes a specific example.
