Chapter 1, Mishna 1

When a man dies married but childless, and he has a brother, the brother must either marry the widow (yibum) or perform a ceremony releasing them (chalitzah). If the deceased had two or more wives at the time of death, the brother is bound to all of them, but if the brother is closely related to one of those women, then she is prohibited to him, and so are all her co-wives.
