Rabbi Shimon says all Israel are the children of kings, and so they may use rose oil on Shabbos, but the halacha is that people may only smear rose oil on themselves in places where it is commonly used by healthy people. We may not tie or untie professional, permament knots on Shabbos, and if one does one is liable to bring a sin offering. We may tie or untie common knots like the bow on shoelaces. Tying or untying a permanent, non-professional knot or a professional, temporary knot on Shabbos is prohibited by rabbinic decree.
