Chapter 10, Mishna 7, 8 The matzah afikoman must be the last thing we eat at Seder. What if that’s the only matzah we eat at Seder – did we fulfill our obligation? Sleeping interrupts the festive meal and ends it, dozing does not. What is the difference? We are not obligated to eat matzah after the first night of Passover (2 nights outside Israel), but we are obligated to eat a festive meal every day, and that requires unleavened bread. Nevertheless, there is a key distinction between these obligations.
